Troop Upcoming Events and Announcements

This weekend – ThunderBase-2018

If you are on the roster for this weekend’s camping adventure – this section is for you. 1.      We will leave the church parking lot at 6:00 pm SHARP!  Don’t be late – or you will be driving to Ross County on your own! 2.      There will be a Food Can Drive during this event.  If you wish to participate please bring a canned food item. 3.      Plan to wear your Class A uniform on Friday night.  We will switch to Class B during the day on Saturday; Those being Tapped out in the OA will need to wear your Class A uniform during that ceremony 4.      Plan to have your rain gear available on Friday night; we will get wet during the set up time. 5.      Other items to make sure you bring – water bottle, sunscreen, and regular campout gear.  Bring your own cup!  Mr. Betz will not supply your needs. 6.      There will be opportunity to buy “things” a...

Troop Elections tonight and Thunderbase camp

Parents and Scouts: Don’t forget that tonight is our Troop Elections for the SPL and PL’s.  I encourage all scouts to be there and make your vote count.  New scouts will not participate in this election; but will have activity to do so – don’t miss out.  To be considered for SPL [Senior Patrol Leader] you must be Star Rank; and for Patrol Leader you must be First class.  Also – Here is the final roster for Thunderbase.  If your name is not on this list – I do not have your paperwork and it is now too late to get there with the troop.  There are a few that bought their registration on their own – they should have the registration info to get in the event.  We will be talking about the details - plans for the trip this coming weekend.  Please be present to get all info on this campout. Mulch Update... grrr..rr.rrr.rrr.....

Troop 136: What a great event!  I can’t thank the group enough for the support on this fundraiser. From those that moved mulch. To the folks that prepared lunch on Saturday and to Mr. Wisenbarger and his company [5 th Avenue Lumber] for the use of the “Moffit” [the mulch moving machine!].  Huge help from all.  Thank You – Thank You – Thank You!!! Ok – here is where we stand… to date we have made just under $8000 in profit with a few orders still to collect on and a mulch bank that will add to this number.  As it stands now, the scouts will have earned about $21.50 per hour worked.  Great Job!  Once the final payments come in this will grow a little. And – for those that helped on Friday-[4/20] or Saturday-[4/21] – you will get a $100.00 Credit for summer camp this year. MULCH Starts Friday GRRR

Dear Parents and Scouts: OK – It is time for MULCH!  I have had a good sign-up list – THANK YOU to all that are able and willing to help.  We will be starting on Friday night at 5:00 PM and finish at dark [8:30??]  We will plan to do all deliveries on Friday and if time permits [and help is there] we will do some of the smaller spreading jobs.  On Saturday we will start at 8:30am and go until we are DONE!  Meet at the Creekside Sub-Division. [use 4927 Snowy Creek Drive as a mapping address to find us] Bring a water bottle - Gloves - Knife to cut open. [rakes and brooms good to use – BUT put your name on them PLEASE ]. Looks like the weather will be good – but cool - plan accordingly.  And remember – only OLD clothes that can get dirty / stained by mulch. Lunch will be provide – but bring a side dish to share.  If parents would like to help Mr. Colborn and  Mr. Betz with set up of lunch let me know.  We are planning between 40-50 for lunc...

GRRRRR....MULCH

Parents and Scouts: OK – Get your GRRRRR face on!  It is time for MULCH MADNESS!  We need you! I have had a good sign-up list started - but – we need you all!  If you were not at the meeting last Tuesday and have not signed up on the mulch help list please send me an email letting me know when you can when you can attend to help.  See the attached status of our sign up.  We will be starting on Friday night 4/20 at 5:00 PM and finish at dark [8:30??]  We will plan to do all deliveries that are just “drop and go’s” on Friday.  If time permits [and help is there] we will do some of the spreading jobs.  On Saturday 4/21, we will start at 8:30am and go until we are DONE!  We will be meeting at the Creekside Subdivision [corner of Autumn Wind and Snowy Creek Drive].  You can use 4927 Snowy Creek Drive to “map” to us Lunch will be provide – but please bring a side dish to share.   If your parents would like to help Mr. Colborn and Mr. Betz...

Mulch Sale coming to end

Parents and Scouts: Please be aware that our Mulch Sale is coming to an end soon.  All orders are due into me by 3/31/18.  You can either drop them off next Tuesday at the church [we won’t meet as a troop on 3/27 but I will be there for mulch turn in].  If you can’t be there for that night then you can mail the order with payment to my home address.  See the orderform for details .  If you have any questions please let me know. Reminder to clean your tents and return them

Help needed this weekend

Parents and Scouts: I am looking to get a couple of scouts to help Mr. Dool and Mrs. Spencer at an Arrow of Light Ceremony on Saturday – from about 11:00 – about 2:30.  You will need to be in class A uniform and help welcome a new scout into the troop.  IF you are not going camping with us and can assist please let me know ASAP!  I can give you details on meeting up with Mr. Dool. Tonight - guest speaker Mr Cordray and planning for the camp out with the Webelos

Dear Parents and Scouts: Just a reminder – for our Boy Scout Troop meeting tonight, we are going to have a guest speaker – Mr. Richard Cordray will be coming to talk to the scouts on “Leadership”.   As some of you know, Mr. Cordray is a current candidate for the Governor of Ohio in the election this next November. He is also a member of the First Presbyterian Church, which is  who charters our Troop. He has agreed to speak to our troop – that’s neat!  I am hoping to have a good turn out to meet with Mr. Cordray and make this a worth wide event for all. ALSO – we will be competing the plans for the upcoming campout this next weekend – with the Web’s from Pack 136.  I hope all will be able to attend the outing.  Please make sure to be a part of your patrol planning tonight. March Newsletter, permission slip, and Mulch Fundraiser

Dear Parents and Scouts: Below is the March monthly newsletter and attached is the permission slip for our campout which will be to Camp Lazarus on March 17-18.  We will be inviting the Webelo II Scouts from Pack 136 to join us.  I am looking for a great turnout from ALL patrols.  Should be fun – so plan on it! We have our Order Day for the 2018 Mulch Fundraiser this next weekend – March 3rd.  We will discuss the details tomorrow night at our Troop Meeting.  Please make every effort to be at this event – As I have told you – WE NEED ALL that can participate. I have included a copy of the 2018 Mulch Order Form for you to use in your social media ties if you wish.  I will have the actual forms on Saturday if you need some already printed. Tuesday's meeting is COH potluck and Feb camping change

Parents and scouts: I have a few items to pass along for the good of the Troop. 1.      We will have our February PLC meeting this Sunday due to the Super Bowl going on next weekend.  We will be meeting Sunday at 5 PM.  All members of the PLC should be there and ready to discuss the upcoming meeting plans for March.  Please be ready!   2.      The Troop Meeting next Tuesday will be our Winter Court of Honor. We will recognize all advancement from the last few months while we enjoy a Pot-Luck dinner. Our Opening will be by the Leadership Patrol. Jan Newsletter, Permission Slip and more

Parents and Scouts: Happy New Year! I hope all have had a great time off with family and friends. We will not be meeting until January 9th as our first meeting of the year. Items of Note: 1. This coming Sunday; January 7th, we will have an Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Robbie Dool. All are invited to attend and see Robbie receive his Eagle. I will be needing some Scout assistance with this ceremony - If you can assist please let me know via e-mail. 2. January Campout permission slips are due on 1/9. We have only 24 total spots IN the Cabin at Camp Manatoc. Others over this amount can attend but they will be in tents. This is a cold weather campout and you will need to plan accordingly.
